Sage Oil Vac adds ‘all-weather’ lube truck model
14 October 2024
Fluid exchange system provider Sage Oil Vac Inc. has expanded its non-CDL lube truck capability by adding an enclosed body model with heaters designed to provide all-season performance.
“We recognize the challenges service technicians face when they exchange fluid in cold climates. The non-CDL enclosed lube truck model builds on the greater maneuverability and less restrictive licensing requirement benefits of a Class 5/6 truck by adding all-weather oil change performance,” said Aaron Sage, Sage Oil Vac CEO.
The new service body includes a Miller CabEn heater and two Eberspächer diesel heaters paired with enclosed tanks that the company said will keep oil viscosity low enough to flow in even the coldest environments. Eight product tanks provide a capacity of 480 gal. of fresh fluid and 280 gal. of used fluids. The fluid control panels enable fluid loading from ground level. Operators can view fluid levels with LED indicators and make changes with centrally located controls, both available in the fluid reels cabinet.
The body’s pump-free vacuum technology is powered by a Miller EnPak A30 compressor and generator with a 15-gal. air tank. Sage Oil Vac said the fluid exchange system can vacuum fill products at up to 20 gpm through the company’s barrel straw. Hot motor oil can be vacuumed from equipment at up to 8 gpm with no moving parts.
Used Filter Receptacles (UFR) secure and hold used oil filters as they drain, allowing crews to quickly vacuum up the used oil. A Filter Stinger is designed to puncture used filters so operators can vacuum out oil before removing the filter from the machine.
The enclosed body has an operational weight of 24,684 lb. (11,195 kg), an overall unmounted body length of 201 ¼ in. (5.11 m), width of 100 3 /8 in. (2.55 m) and height of 134 5/8 in. (3.42 m). It is constructed of a steel subframe with aluminum cabinets and components to optimize weight savings. The enclosure includes five boxes and more than 60 cu. ft. of dry storage space for tool and filter storage. Removable roof panels enable easy tank access.
