Power Briefing recap: week of Dec. 2
06 December 2024
It’s hard to believe that in only a few short weeks, 2024 will be completely behind us. In the meantime, let’s look at what you might have missed this first full week of December in Power Briefing:
- New Holland Agriculture has been making strides in exploring sustainability for growers. Alessandro Zilli, whose focus is alternative fuels at the company, suggested that growers might be interested in energy ecosystems that let them produce and store power.
- At the 2024 Power Progress Summit awards, several teams were recognized for their achievements. These included Engine Distributor of the Year and Product Development Team of the Year.
- Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) compete with traditional gen-sets in several commercial applications. Watt Fuel Cell discussed how its SOFCs tackle such operations and work especially well in remote but critical backup power situations.
- Power distribution units (PDU) are key to ensuring electrified mobile equipment functions properly. But German PDU maker Dintec thinks they’re taken for granted and is urging OEMs not to underestimate their role in the system architecture.
Power Progress also reported on a new AGCO training center in Champaign, Ill., Briggs & Stratton’s partnership with Groupe Magnéto and Schottel’s new thruster workshop in Columbia.
