Multi-Tech Debuts Routers For Harsh Environments

Premium Content

30 June 2020

Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a global supplier of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) communication devices and services, has made its MultiConnect rCell 100 Series LTE Category 4 industrial routers available for potentially explosive environments.

The MultiConnect rCell 100 Series uses the DeviceHQ cloud platform, allowing operators to manage fleets, authorize updates, set connectivity and usage alarms and enable device location (GPS or similar). Remote access to Modbus devices is possible with the integrated serial terminal server.

Featuring mPower Edge Intelligence software, the MultiConnect rCell simplifies integration with a variety of popular upstream IoT platforms to streamline edge-to-cloud data management and analytics, the company said. mPower Edge Intelligence also incorporates a host of critical security features, such as signed firmware validation, enhanced firewall and VPN settings, and secure authentication among others.

The routers are suited for applications in oil and gas production as well as environments too harsh for standard cellular routers, the company said. The MultiConnect rCell Series is approved in the United States for use in mobile network operators (AT&T and Verizon). European models use a GCF-certified module for European carriers.
