Meritor to supply 14Xe e-powertrain to Hexagon Purus
Meritor Blue Horizon 14Xe e-powertrain
Meritor is to supply its Blue Horizon 14Xe e-powertrain to Hexagon Purus to support vehicle development and planned production.
The Meritor e-powertrain will be used in two different hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle applications in North America, including a Class 8 drayage truck and a yard hauler.
The plans follow on from Meritor and Hexagon Purus partnering to integrate the 14Xe e-powertrain into the latter’s Class 6 and Class 7 trucks, plus the Class 8 (6 x 4) vehicles.
The electric powertrains will deliver propulsion to the Hexagon Purus trucks, resulting in zero-emissions transport.
According to Meritor, Blue Horizon e-powertrains are ‘designed for maximum efficiency and flexibility’, which allows them to be customised based on the specific Class 5 through 8 commercial vehicle application.
