Anglo Belgian Corp. NV announced it has acquired E. Van Wingen NV (EVW), an Evergem, Belgium, company that designs, builds and installs Mini-CHPs (combined heat and power systems) from 9 kWe to 280 kWe and cogeneration units from 280 kWe to 1000 kWe per unit running on natural gas, biogas or renewable fuels such as hydrogen. The 65-year-old family business includes roughly 50 employees and has a turnover of €12 million.

The synergies between the two companies led to the acquisition, ABC noted in its announcement, adding that both Belgian companies are committed to the future of the combustion engine – for example, by using advanced emission aftertreatment systems, working with renewable fuels such as hydrogen and methanol or increasing the overall efficiency through heat recovery/cogeneration.

“Companies that have knowledge of combustion engines and can present great references at home and abroad and have a strong and motivated team of people and are also innovatively working with hydrogen are unique in Belgium,” said Tim Berckmoes, CEO, Anglo Belgian Corp. “ We are therefore very pleased with the acquisition of E. Van Wingen. The challenges in terms of energy transition and energy security of supply are huge, but together with EVW, we look to the future with confidence. The continuity for the employees and customers of EVW is assured.”

JP Van Wingen, EVW’s CEO, said the acquisition provides a unique opportunity to take EVW to a higher level after two generations as a family business. “The possibilities offered by the exchange of knowledge and know-how and the complementarity of the activities represent a new asset,” he commented. “Being part of a strong international technology group will give us more power at home and abroad. EVW 3.0 is born, further growth and continuity of customer support are guaranteed, but the exciting developments in the pipeline and the existing cooperation with partners/suppliers will also be continued in the new momentum.”
