Allison Transmission presents eGen electric axle for emergency vehicles
06 June 2022
Allison Transmission has introduced a version of its eGen Power electric axle for fire and rescue vehicles.
eGen Power is described as a bolt-in electric propulsion solution which is compatible with existing vehicle platforms. It features two fully-integrated electric motors, a two-speed gearbox, oil cooler and pumps.
The twin-motor 100D version has a continuous output of 454 kW, with peak output of 652 kW. Allison states it is one of the most powerful electric axle systems on the market.
Emergency One, a UK manufacturer of fire and rescue vehicles, has integrated the eGen Power 100D into its new E1 EVO platform. This is based on a MAN TGM chassis. The vehicle was unveiled at the Intershulz 2022 trade show in Hanover, Germany.
A 130D version of the eGen Power axle specifically designed for markets in Europe and APAC is also available, where many commercial vehicles require a 13-tonne gross axle weight rating.
The design of the eGen Power prioritises starting and climbing capabilities, together with speed and efficiency.
