Capstone supplying 1.2 MW microturbines to California power plant
11 August 2022
Capstone Green Energy Corp. announced that Cal Microturbine, the company’s exclusive distributor for California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, has secured an order for two C600 Signature Series microturbines totaling 1.2 MW, with integrated heat recovery modules (HRMs). The units will be deployed to an on-site power plant for a leading Southern California industrial manufacturer.
The operators of the cogeneration power plant compared various distributed generation technologies and ultimately chose Capstone microturbines due to their scalability, resiliency and ability to reduce energy costs. In addition, Capstone’s microturbine technology can be deployed in a number of weeks as opposed to months or years and at a cost typically lower than the local grid.
The two ultra-low emission ICHP C600 microturbine-based systems will be installed in a combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) application, supplying energy in the form of electricity, heat and chilled water. This will enable the customer to reduce its reliance on the local electrical grid, lower its energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The microturbine energy system is expected to be commissioned by the summer of 2023.
