Caterpillar elects a new CEO as Jim Umpleby moves to executive chairman

Caterpillar has announced that it has elected a new CEO, as incumbent CEO and chairman Jim Umpleby moves to the role of executive chairman.

Umpleby, who has spent eight years as CEO and spent a total of 45 years working for the world’s biggest construction equipment OEM, will take up his new role on 1 May.
