Chinese construction equipment manufacturer LiuGong has officially launched its Canadian subsidiary, aimed at expanding dealer support and bolstering customer service across the country.

LiuGong has had a dealer network in Canada for more than a decade but said the establishment of a dedicated Canadian subsidiary would strengthen relationships by focusing exclusively on the Canadian market and its customers.

Led by Jim Miao, general manager of LiuGong Canada, the organisation will focus on dealer development, parts and service support, product training and customer engagement throughout Canada’s provinces and territories.

More than 100 dealers, customers, vendors and employees attended a launch ceremony in Québec last week. It was hosted by Dongchun Li, vice president of Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co; Andrew Ryan, president of LiuGong North America; and Jim Miao, general manager of LiuGong Canada.

Miao said, “We are building a Canadian organisation for Canadian customers. That means building a team here that understands this market, working closely with our dealers and bringing the resources of LiuGong directly to the people who depend on our equipment. Our customers know their business and our dealers know their communities. Our responsibility is to give them the products, parts, technical support and factory resources they need to succeed.”

LiuGong will offer a wide range of construction and materials handling equipment, with plans to grow that portfolio further.

The move comes as a trade war between the US and Canada intensifies, following billions of dollars worth of mutual tariffs, following a breakdown in talks over a renewed trade agreement.
