Chip manufacturers invest billions in construction of more manufacturing plants

Two major chip manufacturers have signalled that they will invest billions of dollars in new manufacturing plants, as the race to supply memory for artificial intelligence (AI) continues.

Korean manufacturer SK Hynix announced earlier this week that it plans to invest 19 trillion won (US$12.85 billion) in a new plant in South Korea for advanced packaging.
