06 November 2018
In its annual autumn session, the CIMAC Council elected Prof. Jin Donghan to become the next CIMAC president from 2019-22.
Prof. Jin is president of the Shanghai University and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He also is the chairman of the 8th executive board of CSICE, the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines which also is the Chinese National Member Association of CIMAC. Before these assignments, Prof. Jin served for many years as director of CSIC and President of SMDERI, China’s predominant engine development group and member of CSIC. Prof. Jin was elected by unanimous vote of all participating 12 country organizations and four corporate members.
The group also said preparation for the CIMAC World Congress in Vancouver, Canada, from June 10-14, 2019 is progressing. Mor than 400 technical papers have been submitted for review and acceptance and the revised structure of the Congress, giving more focus on engine users’ requirements and concerns and to the geopolitical framework of the industry (e.g. desulfurization and decarbonization) has triggered a lot of interesting papers, the group said.
In another decision, the CIMAC Council accepted Korea’s application to make Busan, Korea the venue of the 2022 CIMAC World Congress. Busan is Korea’s second largest city and its marine hub, the fifth largest container port in the world and home of most of Korea’s and ship machinery engine industry.
