Clarios, a Wisconsin-headquartered manufacturer of low-voltage batteries for passenger cars, trucks, marine and industrial applications, is to establish a Manufacturing & Technology Training Center to support its US manufacturing and workforce development.

Part of the company’s $6 billion American energy manufacturing strategy announced earlier in 2025, the new center will feature advanced workforce training, manufacturing R&D and related technology validation.

The new location will effectively serve as a base for engineers to prove out new manufacturing tech strategies before they are rolled out across the company’s global operations.

“Clarios is proud to take this next step in our commitment to American manufacturing,” said Chad Steighner, Chief Digital & Information officer of Clarios.

“This new center will help us build both the factory and workforce of the future. By investing in cutting-edge R&D and hands-on training, we’re reshoring critical capabilities, strengthening US competitiveness, enhancing safety performance and creating opportunities for American workers.”

Included in the remit, the Manufacturing & Technology Training Center will investigate advanced robotics, AI-augmented vision systems, autonomous material handling and next-gen manufacturing software.

These and other tech advances are said to be key in improving productivity across Clarios’ battery production network.

Additionally, programs at the center will help to upskill the company workforce with hand-on training, innovation workshops and ‘design thinking’ workshops.

Site selection is still underway, with an announcement possibly being made by the end of 2025.
