Coming in the Autumn issue: Executive Roundtable
28 September 2021
For our Autumn magazine, Diesel & Gas Turbine Worldwide asked officials at key companies within the large engine and turbine industries to weigh in on a series of questions intended to provide a high-level view of the conditions, challenges and opportunities they see in the marketplace.
Here’s an excerpt from Carlos Lange, CEO and president of INNIO.
Both short- and long-term, what keeps you up at night?
Lange: Short term: The supply chain constraints are on top of my mind. We have been able to work closely with our suppliers to mitigate the short-term situations. To ensure the availability of materials and parts we rely on second source suppliers. However, I expect that the pressure remains for the rest of the year, and we are watching closely as we move into early 2022. We are well prepared and have taken appropriate precautions.

Long term: How can we tackle the Earth warming, climate change and bring power to everyone? Will the world – the largest CO2 polluters – adopt the right policies and implement the right measures to avoid further climate change. We no longer have time to search for the perfect solutions. We must act now and rely on technologies with lower CO2 level that can be converted to CO2-free power generation solution. Without natural gas and without hydrogen, there will be no secure energy supply in 2030 or 2040. This will not please everyone, but without natural gas, the energy transition will simply not work.
