Crompton, Cummins Power Systems Head, Resigns

22 July 2016

The Republic newspaper, Columbus, Ind., reported that Dave Crompton, former president of Cummins’ Engine business and most recently president of Cummins Power Systems, has resigned. Crompton had risen through the ranks at Cummins over 28 years and had served as an officer of the company for the past 10 years, the report said. Crompton has reportedly been succeeded by Norbert Nusterer, who was previously vice president of Parts and Central Supply Chain Operations.

According to the Republic, Rich Freeland, president and chief operating officer of Columbus-based Cummins, made the announcement this week in an email sent to Cummins employees, saying that Crompton left “to spend more time with his family and pursue personal interests.” Cummins spokesman Jon Mills said that Crompton’s official last day with the company will be Aug. 1.

“Dave has made Cummins a better company each of the 28 years of his career,” Freeland said in his email. “In his time at Cummins, Dave showed an ability to take on some of our toughest challenges and drive important improvements for our business.”

Crompton joined Cummins in 1988 and held a number of roles in the Engine business, including functional roles in Sales and Marketing, Strategy and Planning and Supply Chain Management. Earlier in his career, he served as general manager for core market segments within Cummins, such as the Recreational Marine Business, Cummins said. Crompton also led the Heavy Duty, MidRange and Light Duty segment of the Engine Business during his career, the company said.

Originally from Austria, Nusterer was an intern at Cummins in 1995 and joined the company full time in 1996. He has worked in multiple segments of the company, including the Engine business, Power Generation, Supply Chain and the New and ReCon Parts business.
