Doosan Škoda supplying energy from waste project

Delivery set for November

Doosan Škoda Power will supply a 42 MW turbine generator for the new Energy Recovery Facility being developed in Leicestershire, England.

“We had previously worked with Doosan Škoda Power on other energy from waste projects and were satisfied with the results,” said Thomas Fick, Hitachi Zosen Inova’s technical project manager for the Newhurst project. “Hitachi Zosen Inova decided to continue this collaboration, after Doosan also committed to fulfil the technical framework requirements for the Newhurst project.”

The new Energy Recovery Facility at Newhurst in England, which is currently being developed, will use a 42 MW turbine generator supplied by Doosan Škoda Power.

The facility will treat up to 350 000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste every year, generating enough electricity to power up to 80 000 households.

Delivery of the main components for the project is planned for November this year. After the completion of the mechanical assembly (piping and wiring), engineers will perform individual tests, and steam is expected to be brought into the unit for the first time in October 2022. The entire facility is expected to begin its operational phase in spring of 2023.
