Eberspaecher Group celebrates 160th anniversary

The Eberspaecher Group is celebrating its 160th anniversary since its founding in Esslingen, Germany, on July 9, 1865. What started as a small tinsmith’s workshop has since grown into a nationally and internationally recognized full-service provider of thermal management and electronics solutions for the automotive and other industries.

As it celebrates its long heritage, the company noted its entry into new business areas through partnerships.

“As a technology-driven company, we offer a broad product portfolio. This includes every type of drive system, as well as the option of further developing these outside the automotive environment,” said Martin Peters, managing partner, Eberspaecher Group. “The transfer into new business areas opens up opportunities for long-term success in changing market conditions.”

For example, in order to increase the availability of hydrogen, the company’s product experts have developed a concept for the industrial production of high-temperature electrolyzers together with a Danish technology company. The exhaust and acoustics specialist within the group delivered the first two 4-ton units at the beginning of June.

In another partnership, Purem by Eberspaecher is working with a German startup on the production of pressure vessels that enable the safe and cost-effective storage and transportation of the energy carrier.

As part of a joint venture concluded in 2025 with the Dutch expert for energy storage systems Zeliox, Eberspaecher is expanding its portfolio to include mobile power sources for special vehicles. The integrated Zeliox Eberspaecher all-in-one energy management system provides electricity in such applications as workshop or construction vehicles.

In addition, the company has entered series production on a battery management system with a connection to the passenger car power grid, designed to safeguard a range of automated driving functions and take account of the increasing complexity of electronic vehicle architecture, Eberspaecher stated. In yet another strategic partnership, the company contributes its hardware and software expertise to the development and distribution of low-voltage batteries used for applications in starter, backup and mild hybrid batteries.
