A gas turbine overhaul, repair and maintenance company has grown its business significantly and announced a series of new appointments.
Turbine Efficiency, which is based in Lincoln, England, was established in 2000 and today has more than 80 employees.
The company said that since the start of 2017 it has won six Long Term Service Agreement contracts and carried out “numerous” overhauls on Siemens SGT-100, SGT-200 and SGT-300 turbines. It has also completed overhauls of three Ruston TA1750 gas turbine packages.
The company added that it has received “significant investment” from London-based private equity investment group Core Capital Partners LLP.
Turbine Efficiency has also made a series of board appointments. The position of chief executive officer has been filled by Chris Turner, who has worked in the power generation sector for more than over 25 years, most recently as managing director U.K. and USA with Brush Turbogenerators Group. Having started his career in the Royal Navy as a marine engineering officer, he joined European Gas Turbines in Lincoln, and spent more than 12 years progressing through several management positions including setting up the Refurbished Equipment division.
He then moved within Alstom Power to join the Power Service North Europe Division where his roles included senior management responsibility for steam turbine and generator services on several UK nuclear power stations. He joined Brush Electrical Machines in 2012 as director of Aftermarket.
“Turbine Efficiency has become a very well established and much-respected name in global gas turbine service and has developed a really solid foundation to underpin growing the business in new and exciting directions,” Turner said.
Trevor Swales has been appointed as executive chairman of Turbine Efficiency following an engineering career which has included appointments at companies including Doncasters, Firth Rixson, Lonestar and, more recently, Bromford Industries.
Mike Giles has been appointed to the permanent position of finance director. Giles’ previous companies include Umeco Plc, where he progressed to the role of group operations finance director. In 2013 he set up his own company providing finance director services before accepting the role at Turbine Efficiency.
Turbine Efficiency’s services also include gas turbine rotor balancing, remote monitoring and control systems servicing and upgrades.
