Electric skid steer now offers Danfoss display option

The third-generation Elise 900 electric skid-steer loader from FirstGreen Industries (previously known as Kovaco Electric) now offer the Danfoss DM700 display as an available option. It features a 7-in. screen with enhanced sunlight viewability and rugged IP66/IP67 ingress protection ratings.

The DM700 was added as an option based on customer requests for a hard-mounted display to be used in place of the previous control by mobile phone. The display was selected with support from Technotrade, FirstGreen technology advisor and a Danfoss Power Solutions Premier Partner.

Situated in the top right corner of the Elise 900 cab, the display is connected to the skid steer’s CAN bus system, providing reliable, rapid communication and higher data throughput, Danfoss said, compared to a phone’s Bluetooth connection. The display also overcomes the distractions of using a personal device for machine operation, along with problems that emerge if the phone is misplaced or not charged. The large, sunlight readable screen of the DM700 also provides better visibility of important machine information for the operator, the company added, including error messages and diagnostics.

The display allows users to set three custom profile settings based on the needs of the operator or working conditions, such as travel speeds and hydraulic settings. In addition, it prompts the operator to close the door and fasten the seat belt prior to machine startup, plus shows a real-time overview of the skid steer’s roll and pitch angles to minimize rollover risk.

In addition to the Danfoss display, the third-generation Elise 900 models incorporate customizable Danfoss JS1-H CAN joysticks in place of the analog joysticks of previous generation. According to the company, the new joysticks offer greater accuracy and enable the adjustment of parameters, resulting in a more intuitive control system customized to operator preferences, the company said. The joysticks also feature only four wires compared to the 25 required with the previous analog devices, making them easier to install, service and replace.

FirstGreen reports that all purchasers of the latest generation Elise 900 to date have selected the hard-mounted display , with the company anticipating it will be included in 95% of long-term sales.

“When we introduced the display, every customer was happy with it. Now, we are working on retrofitting older machines so they can use the display,” Lukáš Rameš, chief operating officer, FirstGreen Industries, said. “We already have some orders for the retrofit kits, which can rebuild generation 2 machines into gen 3.”
