First Cat C32B marine engines delivered

Caterpillar Marine announced the delivery of the first Cat C32B 2433 mhp engines to Cat dealer Gregory Poole in North Carolina, U.S.A. Building on the experiences gained with high performance applications, the C32B product line will be available as a 12-cylinder in a range of power options from 1800 to 2400 bhp (1825 to 2433 mhp). Additional benefits Cat Marine cited, include low noise and vibration levels and an easier installation process.

“We’re pleased to work with several of our dealers, including Gregory Poole here, as we start placing the C32B into new vessel and repower projects,” said Allen Bowman, Caterpillar Marine product strategy lead for the C32B. “This reaffirms Caterpillar’s commitment to the yachting and sport fishing segments.”

The Cat C32B is a 12-cylinder, vee configuration liquid-cooled diesel engine with bore and stroke dimensions of 145 x 162 mm and an overall displacement of 32.1 L. The new engine has an updated cooling system and a sequential, three-turbo air system designed to deliver faster response and better performance. Additional options include extended oil change intervals, full MCS certification, including duplex filtration, and a cosmetic engine cover. The engine complies with EPA Tier 3 Recreational and IMO II emissions regulations, with a fully integrated SCR solution for IMO III, the company said.

“The C32B product line ushers in a new era for vessel operators by offering a high-power density V-12 engine capable of powering many of the world’s largest sportfishers and motor yachts,” said Charlson Smith, Americas Pleasurecraft & Yachting segment manager for Caterpillar Marine.

The engines will also be available with the newly enhanced Cat Concierge program for 24/7 global remote support, the company said.
