Foton Signs With Agrale To Build Trucks In Brazil
14 March 2016
While Chinese equipment manufacturer Foton waits for the completion of its plant in Guaíba city, Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil, the company has signed an agreement to assemble trucks at Agrale’s factory in Caxias do Sul.
Agrale is a Brazilian manufacturer of trucks, buses and military vehicles.
“While we work on our own plant in Guaíba, we will follow our production schedule for trucks in Brazil at Agrale, which will give us perfect technical conditions for the assembling with the high quality of our products,” said Bernardo Hamacek, CEO, Foton Trucks.
Starting in March, Foton said it will take four months to get the space ready for production. The trucks might start being produced in August this year.
The use of Agrale’s line will initially be over a period of 12 months.
The agreement between the two companies said Foton will be responsible for the purchase of the components as well for logistics and product guarantees. Agrale will be in charge of assembling Foton trucks. Each one will go under the final inspection of Foton technicians.
Trucks will be produced with domestic index greater than 65%. “With this we will have access FINAME financing and certainly next year, when we open our plant, this index will be closer to 70%,” said Hamacek.
