GE’s Gas Power business completed the acquisition of Nexus Controls, a leading aftermarket controls business, from Baker Hughes.

GE said customers will benefit from end-to-end support including consistency and efficiency across both new and serviced units, as well as a comprehensive lifecycle strategy to support their fleet’s controls needs. As part of the controls business line, GE will continue to invest in its Mark VIe controls product line as well as other systems and related products. This new controls business line will be led by Mani Elango within GE Gas Power.

Nexus Controls offers a portfolio that includes turbine and compressor control systems, distributed controls systems (DCS), generator control and excitation systems, operational technology (OT) cybersecurity, mechanical and instrumentation & control (I&C) solutions, and global services.

“Controls are vital for our customers operating in today’s dynamic, competitive energy environment and the integration of Nexus Controls into our existing offerings will help improve our customers’ experience throughout the lifecycle of their plant,” said Eric Gray, CEO of GE Gas Power. “This acquisition will also strengthen the quality, service, and delivery of an end-to-end controls experience, brought to life by a single controls business line with world-class talent.”

Controls technology is a focus area for the power generation sector as plant operators and utilities must adapt their assets’ operational strategy to the changing energy system landscape and requirements. GE’s acquisition of Nexus Controls reaffirms its commitment to investing in leading controls technology and expertise to enhance customer experience.
