Hofer Powertrain, a German powertrain solution specialist, has introduced its new ULTeBEAM electrified axle.

The new axle is intended to support manufacturers of light commercial vehicles interested in converting their existing internal combustion models to battery-electric drivetrains.

The ULTeBEAM features a modular architecture which support both 400 V and 800 V configurations. This is said to deliver flexibility demanded by OEMs.

Features of the axle include a transmission and motor, connected to an external inverter.

Hofer can provide engineering support for such projects, including design simulations and in-house testing.

“The compact design of the ULTeBEAM solution aims to speed up the electrification of traditional rigid axle setups commonly used in commercial vehicles. This compatibility and similar architecture allows an easy and direct replacement, simplifying the electrification process for automakers and promoting a greener future for the commercial vehicle industry,“ said Thomas Hackl, COO at Hofer Powertrain.
