Huddig increases battery capacity on Tigon excavator loader

Sweden-based Huddig has launched the next generation of its 1370 Tigon excavator loader, increasing battery capacity by almost 40% and adding new equipment options and connected fleet management features.

The Huddig 1370 Tigon G2 has a 61kWh battery, up from 44kWh on the previous version. Huddig said the larger battery would allow the machine to spend more time operating on electric power, recover and store more energy during braking or downhill travel, and reduce charging cycles over time.

The company said the battery operates most effectively between around 20% and 80% charge, with the increased capacity making more usable energy available within that range.

Huddig said its existing Tigon fleet consists of 41 machines with a combined 96,306 operating hours. According to the company, those machines have operated on electric power for 56% of their working time, saving an estimated 531,621 litres of diesel, equivalent to around 1,372 tonnes of CO₂.

Daniel Åkerström, design engineer at Huddig, said, “With almost 100,000 hours of real-world operation, we have had an excellent foundation for our development work. The larger battery makes it possible to work on electric power for even longer.”

The new generation can also be specified with more of Huddig’s equipment range, including the Loader Coupled Crane, radio control system, LIFT Type II and LIFT 2200C. The LIFT 2200C can also be equipped with radio control and an insulated work platform.

Huddig said the changes would make the machine suitable for a wider range of applications, including construction, utility work and railway operations.

The Tigon G2 is also prepared for Huddig Echo, the company’s fleet management system for operators and machine owners. The web app brings together operating data, machine status, fuel level and fleet information, with Huddig saying it will help users monitor machines, plan work and understand how equipment is being used.

Håkan Bäckström, CEO of Huddig, said, “Huddig 1370 Tigon G2 represents an important step in Huddig’s continued development.

“With the new TIGON generation, we are combining our extensive experience in excavator loaders with continued technological development and electrification. We are also advancing how we will build our machines in the future.”
