Hybrid and electric Skyjacks available in North America

Skyjack has launched its new hybrid-electric and battery-electric rough terrain articulating booms to the North American market.

The all-electric, zero-emission SJ45 AJE+ and SJ60 AJE+ and the hybrid SJ45 AJHE+ and the SJ60 AJHE+ are designed to be versatile to meet true job site expectations.

The range has common specifications, parts, capacities, reach, and dimensions across all-electric, hybrid-electric, and diesel options, allowing rental companies to choose preferred power within a single machine.

“Our new range of hybrid and all-electric rough terrain articulating booms provide a clean, quiet, and sustainable rental solution that features low or no emissions, lower operating costs, and increased utilization,” said Skyjack President Charlie Patterson

The new articulating booms feature Axldrive, which provides a mechanical four-wheel drive system, with an oscillating steer axle and manually controlled rear locking differential for optimised traction and up to 45% gradeability.

Additionally, Easydrive is an intuitive direction sensing function that allows the machine to move in the general direction of the joystick’s movement, where forwards is forwards and backwards is backwards. There is no need to coordinate coloured directional arrows on the base of the machine.

The company’s Skyriser technology ensures that the riser and main pivot point connecting the fly boom to the riser travel in a straight vertical line. Movement in a true vertical manner, without drifting forward or back, reduces the amount of repositioning the operator needs to do in order to stay close to a building facade, improving productivity.

The SJ60 AJE+ and SJ60 AJHE+ also feature Speedyreach, which provides the ability to cycle between maximum height and ground level without the need to engage the riser function which helps to save the operator time.

Electrical controllers integrate into Skyjack’s existing SkyCoded control system, maintaining commonality and ease of troubleshooting. Customers can stay connected with machine performance using the Elevate Live scanning QR code for easy access to serial number-specific information and service data using any smartphone, with no app or password required.

All the models offer capacities up to 1,000lbs (454kg). Machine operating efficiency allows for multiple days of work out of a single charge, while bulk-charging on hybrid machines can be completed in less than three hours.

“Our new machines feature easy-to-understand control systems, with an on-board digital diagnostics display that allows operators to see real-time, simple language readouts. No plug-in calibration is necessary for day-to-day troubleshooting, all major service points are easily accessible, and common parts across our boom range make for straightforward maintenance and repairs,” added Jonathan Reinhart, Skyjack’s Product Manager. “Skyjack booms are renowned for a superior driving experience, a consistent, multi-function capability, and machine reliability.”

Skyjack’s articulating booms are simply electric, simply reliable, and available now across North America.
