JLG to open new R&D center in Maryland

Maryland’s Governor Wes Moore announced JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. brand, will expand its operations in the state by opening a new satellite office and R&D facility in Frederick, MD.

The new 113,000-square-foot location will be a state-of-the-art facility where JLG will develop new products and solutions in a large innovation and equipment testing area, the Governor said. “It will also have new workspaces, with opportunities to expand in the future, and several large, flexible spaces conducive to hosting company meetings and multiple customers visiting simultaneously,” he added.

“Innovation drives growth in Maryland and helps keep our economy competitive. We’re thrilled that JLG Industries, which has been a great partner to Maryland for many years, has chosen our state for its new research and development facility,” said Gov. Moore. “Our administration looks forward to continuing to work with JLG Industries to create jobs and grow the economy.”

According to the Governor’s office, to assist with project costs, the Maryland Department of Commerce is working to approve a $500,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland. Additionally, the Frederick County Office of Economic Development plans to cover up to $50,000 in permitting or project fees. As the project moves forward, JLG is also expected to be eligible for additional state, county and city incentives, including up to $75,000 through the City of Frederick’s Commercial & Industrial Tax Credit program.

“JLG’s growth is a testament to our focus on quality, service and innovation,” said JLG Mahesh Narang. “Our customers rely on us for purpose-built access equipment, and our new facility in Frederick reflects our commitment to purpose-built spaces that foster growth for our team members and innovation for our customers.”

Officials anticipate the Frederick facility will be fully operational by 2026.
