Kaeser launches new version of 5m3 electric compressor
15 October 2025
Portable compressor manufacturer Kaeser is launching a new version of its electric 5m³ M50E compressor incorporating a frequency converter to adjust pressures between 6 and 11 bar.
The M50E SFC (Sigma Frequency Control) version, which was shown as a prototype at Bauma earlier this year, makes it possible to match the air output to specific applications and also reduces the starting current, which cuts power load.
The unit will be available to order from November in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia.

Kaeser said the SFC model can be powered by an on-site generator or a battery pack and will be ideal for use on sites in emission-free areas or for indoor work. The compressor weighs less than 750kg for ease of towing.
The M50E SFC is available with a PE enclosure for mobile use or a zinc-phosphated, powder-coated metal enclosure for stationary applications.
The company had also been developing a compressor with an integrated battery pack, with a prototype shown at the Intermat exhibition in Paris two years ago.
Natalia Amirkhanian, Kaeser’s business development manager – rental, told International Rental News that the battery solution was technically good, however, “We discussed it with several rental partners and came to common conclusion, that a battery driven compressor is not the optimal option at the current stage of battery industry development.”
Amirkhanian said another option would be to use exchangeable battery packs, when such packs become more mature and an “industry standard”.
