Kiloutou adds electric dump trucks to fleet

Premium Content

Kiloutou has added 60 electric dump trucks to its range of Impakt alternative-powered equipment.

The 3.5 tonne trucks, which are 100% electric, come equipped with a maximum payload of 937kg, 75kWh battery and 184 hp (137kw) engine.

On an alternating current terminal, the truck accepts a maximum power of 11kW for a full charge made in 8 hours.

At a DC charging station with a maximum power of 115kW, the battery can be charged in 34 minutes.

Kiloutou said the trucks deliver up to a 94% reduction in C02 emissions and “demonstrates the Group’s desire to support its customers in the decarbonisation of construction sites.”

It added that they are suited to transporting tools, goods and other heavy materials in all types of environments and are compatible with traffic in LEZs (Low Emission Zones) and city centres.

They are already available for rent in France through a number of the company’s agencies.

Audrey Miclard, director of sustainable development, Kiloutou, said, “Within our equipment fleet, dump trucks are the equipment that emits the most CO2. This observation logically leads us to rethink the composition of our fleets in order to provide our customers with more environmentally friendly transport solutions.

“We are also aware of the positive impact that the use of electrical equipment in populated areas can have. Road transport (including cars and heavy goods vehicles) is responsible for 54% of nitrogen oxide emissions.

“The introduction of electric dump trucks contributes significantly to reducing emissions of fine particles and other atmospheric pollutants but also to reducing the numerous noise nuisances reported by local residents.”
