Kobelco expands US straight-boom demolition offering

Kobelco Construction Machinery USA has expanded its demolition equipment offering with straight-boom versions of its SK300LC-11 and SK350LC-11 excavators, designed to provide increased reach and attachment capacity for building demolition applications.

Kobelco SK350LC-11 Straight Boom

The two machines offer greater working height than conventional mono-boom excavators, with a choice of standard or long arm configurations to accommodate different demolition attachments, said Kobelco.

The SK300LC-11 Straight Boom provides a maximum reach of 36 ft (11.0 m) with its standard arm and can accommodate attachments weighing up to 8,708 lb (3,950 kg). With the longer arm, reach increases to 39 ft (11.9 m), while maximum attachment capacity decreases to 7,959 lb (3,610 kg).

The larger SK350LC-11 offers a maximum reach of 37 ft (11.3 m) and an attachment capacity of up to 10,825 lb (4,910 kg) with its standard arm. The long-arm configuration extends reach to 39 ft (11.9 m), with a maximum attachment capacity of 9,348 lb (4,240 kg).

Both models are powered by a 265 hp (198 kW) Isuzu Tier 4 Final engine and feature hydraulic systems designed to accommodate demolition attachments, including an in-cab hydraulic pressure release function to simplify tool changes.

Operator protection includes ROPS-certified cabs with Level II front and top guarding, while a three-camera system provides a 270-degree view around the machines.

A 10-inch (25.4 cm) monitor allows operators to adjust hydraulic flow settings for attachments including breakers, nibblers and rotating grapples.

The machines are also equipped with Kobelco’s KOMEXS telematics system, providing remote access to operating hours, fuel consumption, maintenance information and machine location.

Dan Collins, director of product development at Kobelco Construction Machinery USA, said the expansion reflected the OEM’s commitment to providing purpose-built equipment for demolition contractors.
