LGMG demonstrates 23-minute charging for electric mining truck
15 October 2026
LGMG has demonstrated an electric mining truck capable of charging from 20% to 90% in 23 minutes as part of a wider push to integrate battery-electric equipment with on-site power generation and energy storage.

The Chinese manufacturer showcased the RTE156 electric mining truck alongside solar generation, battery storage, charging infrastructure and fleet management technology at an operating mine in Ordos, Inner Mongolia.
LGMG said the truck’s charging system can deliver almost 800kWh in 18 minutes under extreme operating conditions, with peak charging power of approximately 3.6MW.
The RTE156 uses a 3C fast-charging architecture, high-capacity battery pack and dedicated thermal-management system designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C.
Faster charging is intended to reduce equipment downtime, one of the main challenges associated with deploying battery-electric haulage equipment in high-utilisation mining operations.
Integrated mine energy system
Rather than focusing solely on the machines, LGMG is developing what it describes as an integrated solar-storage-charging-transportation system.
The approach combines renewable power generation, battery energy storage and megawatt-class charging, with a central energy management platform coordinating power distribution, equipment charging and fleet dispatch.
For remote mines where grid capacity is limited, LGMG said the combination could reduce reliance on diesel-generated electricity while allowing charging demand to be matched with available power.
The company also demonstrated intelligent fleet dispatch technology designed to coordinate equipment movements and charging schedules to improve machine utilisation.
LGMG said it is expanding its electric mining equipment range for applications including overburden removal and coal extraction, while also developing machines for high-altitude sites, difficult terrain and extreme temperatures.
The equipment and energy systems were demonstrated during LGMG’s first Global Mining Customer Service Festival, held in Ordos from 9-11 October and attended by more than 500 representatives from mining companies, industry organisations and technology partners.
The manufacturer also announced an expanded customer service programme covering spare parts, maintenance, intelligent mining operations and remanufacturing as it targets greater adoption of electrified and digitally connected mining fleets.
