Mann+Hummel to show filtration innovations at ConExpo 2023
24 January 2023
German filtration specialist Mann+Hummel will highlight solutions for all types of propulsion in its booth in South Hall 4 (Stand S-84607) at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023, March 14-18 in Las Vegas. Products presented at the event “will enable operation that is as safe as it is sustainable,” according to the company.
Fuel cell technology will be an important pillar of the company’s presence at the event. Relevant solutions on display will include:
- a cathode air cleaner that protects fuel cell stacks from impurities in the air;
- a water separator that can be used to separate liquid water from the exhaust gas of the fuel cell;
- a broad band silencer that improves acoustic properties of the system;
- a coolant circuit, which is a special particle filter to remove impurities that can block narrow cooling channels or accelerate pump wear;
- and ion exchange filters to keep the electrical conductivity of the coolant below permissible limits.
For all-electric vehicles, Mann+Hummel offers the modular VentPlus system, which is designed to help protect the battery system from water and dust while also providing pressure equalization. The pressure equalization element is tailor made for individual customer requirements from tried and tested components, the company said.
Other filtration solutions introduced at ConExpo will include the Entaron HD 2.5, a compact air cleaner suited for outdoor power applications such as commercial mowers, compact tractors and other construction equipment. Its two-stage housing contains an integrated pre-separator with an efficiency of more than 90%, said Mann+Hummel. The filter element with composite media features a blend of synthetic and cellular fibers that the company said provide optimal efficiency and performance in challenging operating conditions.
Also featured will be the Entaron XR self-cleaning air filter, which is specifically suited for high dust environments. It features a solenoid valve connected to a compressed air reservoir that triggers a compressed pneumatic pressure surge, which is directed through a nozzle into the air filter. This leads to cleaning and frees the surface of the filter element from dust and dirt particles. The released dust is then extracted via the fan system or the exhaust system.
The media used in the Entaron XR is MICROGRADE A-C-ME F1, which combines the durability of conventional cellulose‑based filter media with a high-performance PTFE membrane. According to Mann+Hummel, the separation efficiency for fine test dust is higher than 99.997%.
