Marquardt presents alternative drives for ag equipment

At Agritechnica 2023, mechatronics and automotive supplier Marquardt is presenting systems and components for agricultural machines and commercial vehicles with hybrid or battery-electric drives. Products being displayed include the Interactive Charging Socket (ICS) charging system with the associated E-Lock actuator locking system and a new high-voltage sensor for battery management systems.

The Interactive Charging Socket (ICS) is designed to make the charging process safer, more productive and offers customers innovative user interaction, the company stated. The smart charging system is compatible with global inlet standards (CCS, MCS, NACS, ChaoJi, GB/T and CHAdeMO). In addition to various LED lighting scenarios, it offers motorized inlet covers to protect the contact pins from dirt, sensor-based controls, a heating module for easy operation of the charging plug in icy conditions and automated charging flaps. Marquardt’s S3 sensor (Superior Sensing Solution) works even in extreme weather conditions such as ice or heavy rain.

The E-Lock charging plug interlock can be quickly and flexibly adapted to the requirements and needs of the customer, reducing the time to market. The system detects up to five positions of the locking bolt and thus recognizes misalignments caused by dirt, ice or deformations on the charging plug, for example, the company noted.

Individual functionalities include mounting with clip or screw connection, the shape and extension length of the bolt depending on the vehicle model as well as the desired connection option by cable (pigtail) or in a plug configuration. The E-Lock’s compact size enables it to be easily integrated into the charging port unit in small spaces:, such as in e-offroad and commercial vehicles as well as in charging stations and passenger cars.

Marquardt has also developed a high-voltage sensor (HV sensor) for battery management systems that can quickly and precisely measure current and voltage. In the event of an accident or overvoltage, the sensor can trigger a “pyroswitch” and the circuit is interrupted within five milliseconds. The HV sensor also measures the insulation resistance and continuously monitors whether the resistance from the body to the battery is within the desired range. The sensor is suitable for agricultural vehicles, plus can be installed in fully electric cars as well as in vehicles with hybrid engines or fuel cell drives.

Marquardt Intelli-Controls

Also featured in the Agritechnica stand is the Intelli-Controls product family. The dust- and water-resistant control units can be integrated into the vehicle systems of all types of agricultural and construction and machinery, as well as commercial and municipal vehicles.

All four variants of the Intelli-Controls family are based on a modular technology platform and offer a functional combination of hardware and software, making them configurable to the operating concept and desired functionalities. The units are compact, robust and flush-mounted.

The control units have four to six buttons or are available in combination with a rotary/push actuator. The rotary/push button as well as the design of the buttons can be adapted to the needs, requirements and cockpit design on request. Background and function lighting, symbols and material colors can also be configured as specified.
