Modular Battery and Marine Propulsion Systems
01 November 2019
XING Mobility, an electric vehicle technology provider, has launched an electric battery and powertrain products for the marine and boat market. Appearing for the first time at the recent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the company displayed a modularized, fast-install battery pack system alongside a range of integrated, plug-and-play drivetrain accessories.
XING Mobility said its Immersio modular battery system is a stackable energy solution that acts as a direct engine replacement and can be configured into a variety of size, shape and power needs. Made up of standardized, compact modules, the product is designed to make it possible for boat and marine vehicle manufacturers to electrify existing fleets, or to design electric prototypes.
The products are designed for manufacturers who produce fleets in low-to-medium volume with a high-mix of vehicle or marine equipment types, and where configurability of the powertrain within unusual hull or chassis space is critical. In the boating and marine industry, XING said the Immersio system can range from high performance boat applications to passenger ferries.
XING is also a provider of immersion cooling technology, a thermal management method that submerges battery cells directly in non-conductive cooling fluid. Immersion cooling in electric vehicles is now widely considered to be an effective method of cooling due to the 100% cell-to-coolant contact. This improved heat control and cell temperature uniformity enhances the lifecycle of the battery to 3000 charge cycles or more and allows each cell to reach its optimum performance levels while remaining compact and lightweight, XING said.
Aside from being IP68-rated, the cooling fluid contains fire-suppressing properties, which makes the technology safe for use on waters, XING said.
