MTA Launching Leonardo

01 March 2019

MTA has launched the Leonardo display, an off-the-shelf product that can easily be personalized by the customer for specific vehicle requirements and that is especially dedicated to off-highway applications.

Leonardo has a 307-mm colour thin film transistor (TFT) touchscreen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixel, which allows to display several different parameters at the same time, as it is usually needed with off-highway vehicles and their implements. Leonardo can be employed as a stand-alone display but can also be integrated within an electronic system that includes other displays or dashboards.

The display has an optimal visibility, said MTA, thanks not only to the dimensions and the resolution, but also the high light intensity. Visibility has been the subject of dedicated researches by the MTA Electronics division, which adopted an optical bonding treatment to eliminate the presence of air between glass and screen and reduce to the very minimum the reflection of light. Furthermore anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint glass is used.

The multitouch screen (up to 10 points ) is very reliable and precise even when the operator is wearing gloves, thanks to a latest generation touch controller.

The materials used and the manufacturing tecnique insure that the display is robust and durable, being resistant to vibrations and high temperatures. It complies with protection level IP66.

Leonardo is available with standard WiFi and Bluetooth interfaces, for the connection to a WiFi hotspot or directly to a smartphone. The display has an integrated loudspeaker function with microphone input and audio output, which can be connected to an external audio amplifier.

The software at the core of the Leonardo display can be personalized with Android Studio, which allows for the creation of complex and sophisticated graphics. But for a more user-friendly programming, MTA has developed in-house an Android plug-in – Speedy Creator – that offers functions and graphics for an easy and quick application programming. These graphics and specific functions have been developed in three different environments, to cover the requirements of agricultural, industrial, and earth moving applications.

Leonardo can also be programmed directly by OEMs via the MTA Studio software, another in-house developed tool dedicated to less experienced users.
