New Air Wise air quality sensor for CVs and off-highway machines
06 July 2026
Metis Engineering has launched its Air Wise air quality sensor for transport and industrial HVAC systems.
The new sensor measures pressure, temperature, NOx, VOCs, CO2, humidity, dew point and impact shock levels in real time over CAN bus communications link.
Built to automotive standards including ISO 7637-2 and ISO 16750-2/4, the new unit is designed for use in passenger and commercial vehicles, off-highway machinery and other industrial systems.

The sensor can be plugged directly into HVAC CAN bus architecture via a five-pin Molex Nano-Fit connector.
In operation, the sensor will remain silent until a predefined volume parameter is breached. At this point, the unit switches to active transmission and can trigger a response output.
Air Wise is now available along with the existing Cell Guard (battery safety) and H Guard (hydrogen detection) sensors.
Joe Holdsworth, founder and CEO of the UK-based company, said: “Air quality is fast becoming one of the most critical data points across mobility and industrial environments.
“With Air Wise, we have designed a sensor that does not just measure air quality, it gives engineers the intelligence to act on it in real time. Whether that is managing cabin comfort, or ensuring compliance with increasingly stringent environmental standards, Air Wise is built to deliver the reliability and precision that demanding applications require.”
