15 April 2021
The UEC33LSH-C2 engine is being developed to meet the market demands for cement carriers, small-size bulk carriers and chemical tankers
Japan Engine Corp. said a Chinese licensee, Zhejiang Yungpu Heavy Machinery Co., has received orders for multiple projects, the world’s first 6UEC33LSH-C2 for a Chinese coastal bulk carrier, and 6UEC42LSH-Eco-D3 for a Chinese coastal chemical tanker.
The UEC33LSH-C2 engine is being developed as the successor the UEC33LSII, to meet the market demands for cement carriers, small-size bulk carriers and chemical tankers by covering a wide power range from high- to low-speed. The latest engine’s low fuel consumption is superior to other similar class electronically-controlled engines even applying mechanically-control systems.
The UEC33LSH-C2 has a bore and stroke of 330X1050 mm.
Many UEC42LSH-Eco-D3 engines have already been adopted for bulk carriers and small/middle size chemical tankers for domestic shipyards by highly evaluating of its world-top class low fuel consumption. This is the first receiving order by the Chinese licensee.
J-ENG said it has been focused on the Chinese market to expand UE engine’s share for many years.
Its performance, reliability, easy operation and low life cycle cost have been highly evaluated and receiving multiple orders. The total number of engines ordered from Chinese shipyards, manufactured by J-ENG, Japanese and Chinese licensees, has reached around 100. Furthermore, Chinese licensees have many promising business talks for UEC33LSH and UEC42LSH engines.
Chinese coastal vessels’ market has a strong replacement demand. Taking this enhanced product line-up of small-bore UE engines as a stimulation, J-ENG will increase UE engine’s market share in China by utilizing Chinese licensees and/or directly-supply from Japan to spread Japan’s technologies.
