21 November 2018

Colorado Standby LLC, a distributor of power generation equipment in Colorado Springs, Colo., has been acquired by John Butterworth and Andrew Mangan. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“After 18 years of successful operations and growth, the opportunity to sell the company to these two qualified individuals was definitely right people, right place at the right time,” said Larry McCormack, who founded the company with his wife in 1999. “Kimberly and I feel 100% confident that we have passed our company on to a competent and organized team that will care for our employees, vendors and customers as we would have.”

Colorado Standby sells and services products from more than 20 major manufacturers of industrial equipment and distributes products worldwide. The power gen products range from 5000 watt to 2 megawatts in diesel, natural gas and liquid propane.

“Colorado Standby is an established company with a strong reputation in the power generation segment and is well-positioned for entry into complimentary industrial segments,” said Butterworth, who has spent the previous 18 years in the industrial diesel engine segment, most recently as a national sales manager for Volvo Penta of the Americas.

Mangan started his career by opening a race engine machine shop in 2001. He later worked as direction of production for Deutz Corp. before moving into business consulting with a focus on operations.

All of the staff and operational relationships with customers and vendors are expected to continue, said the company.
