Norwegian Order For Heuliez Bus Electric City Buses
20 October 2017
Heuliez Bus, the European bus brand of CNH Industrial, has announced the first major order for its new electric city bus range. Tide Buss, one of Norway’s largest transport operators, has signed an order for the delivery of 10, model GX 437 ELEC busses to operate in the city of Trondheim. According to the tender, the electric buses will be delivered in the second quarter of 2019. Trondheim is known for being a pioneering hub for sustainable transport with the largest running fleets of electric buses in the country, Heuliez said.
The fully-electric articulated GX 437 model developed by Heuliez is an 18-meter city bus, made of 100 % stainless steel. The drive system is equipped with Lithium Titanate Oxide batteries and a 160/200 kW electric motor. Energy is stored within the vehicle to allow longer daily mileage without restrictions. Passenger capacity allows for over 130 people on board in a single journey, in adherence to European regulations.
Heuliez Bus said Tide Buss’s order comes as a first demonstrative validation of the vehicle concept, following research and development by the company in city bus electrification, where significant investment has been made, particularly at the company’s facility in Rorthais, France. Heuliez Bus’s said it has over hybrid 600 units having been put in service since 2013.
