Following the news that Orange EV was to roll out a national rental programme across the US, the series manufacturer (and remanufacturer) of Class 8 electric yard trucks has announced that it is to expand into the Canadian market.

The Canadian arm of the company, OEV Canada, will be based in Toronto. In addition to ensuring vehicles are available for purchase, the HQ will provide in-country service and parts support.

Roberto Bragagnolo has been appointed country general manager. Previous roles for the new GM included serving as general manager of Finning, described as the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer. He also worked at Siemens for 23 years, with his last role being head of Energy Storage.

Orange EV has long anticipated this expansion into Canada and with the company’s proven presence in cold-weather markets such as Minnesota, western New York [state] and Ontario, it’s a natural move that will benefit North American customers and the environment alike,” said Bragagnolo.

Orange EV’s expansion into Canada will be supported by a move into a larger production facility over Q2 of 2023. The new location will have an annual capacity of 1800 yard trucks per year over a single-shift operation.

The Orange e-Triever model offers 81,000 lb GCWR and is available in 4x2 or 6x2 chassis types. Battery pack sizes are based on customer deployment plans and have a 7.5 year warranty. All vehicles feature brushless induction motors, while onboard telematics deliver real-time operating data.

In addition to new electric trucks, Orange EV offers a remanufacturing service which strips and preps diesel models in advance of installing an electric powertrain.
