Prologis hits multimillion-mile mark in EV truck charging

Charging solutions provider Prologis Mobility announced its charging infrastructure hit a milestone, as it has powered 10 million miles of travel for heavy-duty electric trucks. The company said that distance is equivalent to circling the Earth 400 times or making 20 round trips to the Moon.

Prologis said that since March 2022, the company been providing customers with scalable charging solutions. Prologis launched its first two major heavy-duty truck charging projects at that time, working closely with its customer, Maersk’s Performance Team. Located in Commerce and Sante Fe Springs, Calif., these projects deliver a combined total of 4 MW and can charge up to 38 trucks at a time.

In 2024, the company opened its Denker facility in Torrance, Calif. Prologis called the project North America’s largest heavy-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging hub powered by a microgrid. Denker’s microgrid combines renewable energy and battery storage to power up to 96 trucks at once, the company said. It also helps support the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports, which Prologis said account for roughly a third of all U.S. container imports.

Prologis said it is working closely with fleets that are electrifying and offers a variety of EV charging solutions. For example, mobility hubs are strategically located, zero-emissions charging stations that provide high-capacity infrastructure near major logistics corridors to ensure convenience and efficiency for fleet operators without the costs of building private operations, the company said.

Depot charging offers a reliable solution for fleets using light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Prologis said depot charging supports operational efficiency by focusing on high-capacity infrastructure while keeping sustainability at the forefront.

Finally, workplace charging solutions, which are warehouses as well as workplaces, allow employees to charge their EVs during shifts, encouraging community-wide EV adoption and enhancing employee satisfaction.

Prologis said it has additional EV charging projects across the U.S., including Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Wisconsin. Globally, the company’s projects spans five countries.
