Motorenfabrik Hatz, the German manufacturer of air- and liquid-cooled diesel engines up to 64 kW, has expanded its management team by appointing Wilfried Riemann chief operations officer. He assumed his new role Aug. 1.

Riemann is responsible for all areas relating to the production of industrial diesel engines, drive components (crankshafts, connecting rods) and special systems (power and energy supply, pumps). In addition, he is also responsible for the production and pre-assembly plant in the Czech Republic, as well as New Diesel Italy, a Hatz company specializing in the production of mechanical injection components.

Riemann joins Hatz from Deutz AG, where he held a number of positions, including seven years as senior vice president of Global Operations for the compact engines segment. In his most recent position as senior vice president of the Engines business segment, he was also responsible for the development of engine-related application segments.

“With the Hatz H-series engine family, we are at the forefront of innovation in the industrial diesel engines segment,” said Bernd Krüper, CEO at Hatz. “Wilfried Riemann’s expertise will be instrumental in securing this position for the future and building on the outstanding market position of our engines and engine components, as well as maintaining the high delivery reliability and quality.

“In addition, Hatz is taking the big and important step towards industrial digitization. We are very pleased to have Wilfried Riemann on board, a skilled and proven manager, who is successfully implementing this mammoth task together with his teams and is thus guaranteeing our customers long-term added value in their cooperation with Hatz.”
