Rolls-Royce Engines Certified EU Stage 5
02 March 2018
Rolls-Royce announced that its engines series 1000, 1100, 1300 and 1500 have obtained compliance certificates for EU Stage 5 emissions regulations from the German Federal Motor Vehicle Authority KBA.
The engines cover a power range from 115 to 480 kW and have been designed for agricultural and construction applications based on commercial vehicles from Daimler. Trials and systematic forensic testing have been carried out together with Daimler between July and November 2017. Engines currently running have reached a total of 26 000 operating hours, with the longest-running unit reaching 4200 hours.
MTU engines for EU Stage 5 will be available to customers for series production in June 2018—seven months before the new emissions regulations come into force in Europe at the beginning of 2019. Rolls-Royce also pointed out that EU Stage 4 models will still be available.
