Rolls-Royce Supplies MTU Engines For Brazilian Tugboats

04 May 2018

Rolls-Royce received an order to supply MTU engines to Aliança Navegação, owned by Hamburg Süd shipping line, for four new tugboats.

The shipping company uses 16-cylinder MTU Series 4000 propulsion systems across its Brazilian tugboats. That fleet consists of seven harbor tugs – two that are deployed in São Francisco in the north of Santa Catarina and five still being commissioned.

Rolls-Royce has supplied MTU Series 4000 engines to Detroit Brasil, who will build the tugboats, since 2010 for use in harbor tugs as well as in platform supply vessels. The engines will be installed at the shipyard in Itajai, Brazil.
