Rotterdam to host Europort 2023 maritime exhibition

The international maritime exhibition Europort announced at SMM Hamburg that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the city of Rotterdam that means the city will serve as the official host of Europort 2023, which will take place on November 7 to 10 that year. Both parties have also expressed the intention to extend the cooperation for at least two more editions of the event.

Rotterdam, the Netherland’s second largest city, is known as the Maritime Capital of Europe for its large and competitive maritime presence. “As a world port, pioneer and driver of maritime transition, Rotterdam is the place to be for shippers, shipowners, traders, investors and maritime companies that want to grow, innovate and lead the way in energy transition and digitalization,” said Robert Simons, Alderman for the Port, Economy, Hospitality and Governance of Rotterdam. “The cooperation with Europort – one of the world’s leading trade shows in shipping – will certainly contribute to this. That is why the city and region are once again committing to be the official host of this exhibition.

“Together with Europort and regional partners such as Smart Delta Drechtcities, Rotterdam wants to shape the maritime future,” he added.

Europe 2023’s agenda will include four topical themes that closely connect with the ambitions of the maritime city: Energy Transition, Digitalization, Ship Finance and Human Capital.

“Rotterdam has always exerted a magnetic attraction on pioneers and market leaders,” said Raymond Siliakus, director, Europort. “By joining forces and by pursuing a joint innovation agenda, we can create impact for our industry and all stakeholders involved.”
