Sany In Mobile Port Machinery Deal In Saudi Arabia
13 September 2016
Sany Port Machinery, a subsidiary of Sany Group, has received an order to supply 31 mobile port machines to King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The order, which was received this month, is the largest single order for port machinery in the company’s history.
The deal with Saudi Arabia’s second-largest port (the largest port in the Persian Gulf) is valued at approximately US$7.5 million. Sany will provide a range of 10T through 46T forklifts, reach stackers and container handlers, as well as special attachment for handling bulk cargo such as steel pipes and steel coils. The machines utilize — depending on the model — Cummins or Volvo diesel engines, Dana Spicer transmissions and Dana or Kessler drive axles.
“Sany Port Machinery is extremely reliable and engineered to meet local customer needs,” said Sany Port Machinery’s Middle East regional manager. “Sany and its local dealers work together to deliver timely and reliable service to our customers.”
Sany Port Machinery was established in 2010 and has established two manufacturing plants in Changsha and Zhuhai, China. At these locations the company designs and builds more than 150 models of mobile port machinery, large port machinery and marine equipment.
Since 2011, the number of Sany machines used at ports and in container yards in Saudi Arabia has risen from eight to nearly 100, the company said. Aided by an established network of dealers, Sany said it now holds a 35% market share for mobile port machinery in Saudi Arabia.
