Swedish logistics firm Einride, which already operates a fleet of battery-electric vehicles, has placed an order for 110 battery-electric Scania trucks.

This is the largest order to date which Scania has received for its heavy-duty electric trucks.

The trucks will be built to Einride’s own hardware specification, including the Saga operating system to support efficient and optimised shipping. Data from the Saga system will be provided to Scania to support product co-development.

“We are looking forward to the beginning of this vital partnership as we expand across Europe. These 110 trucks will make a substantial contribution to increasing our fleet, while we will continue to join forces with renowned industry players such as Scania to drive innovation and product development in the global transport industry,” said Ellen Kugelberg, chief product officer, Einride.

Deliveries of the first trucks in the order are expected to start over the second half of 2022.
