Scania to invest €70m at Angers plant

Scania has announced plans to invest €70 million ($81.3 million) at its site in Angers, France, to further support the transition to electrified transport in Europe.

The investment will support extension of the existing facility and adaptation of assembly lines to support electric truck production.

The plant in Angers has been part of the Scania system for more than three decades. The planned investment will build on the site’s capabilities to further support the transportation transition.

“This investment reflects our ambition to secure the long-term future of the Angers site while increasing its flexibility,” said Petrus Sundvall, president of Scania Production Angers.

“We are preparing for the future, but we must remain able to adapt to changing volumes and market dynamics. The site will be capable of assembling both combustion engine and electric trucks, ensuring we can respond to evolving customer demand.”

The transition to more environmentally friendly powertrains across heavy transport is an important part of Europe’s climate ambitions. Reducing emissions from road transport will require action across the entire value chain, from vehicle manufacturers and transport operators, through to energy providers, infrastructure developers and policymakers.
