ST Engineering Launches Autonomous Logistics Equipment

Premium Content

31 October 2018

ST Engineering has unveiled its STrobo family of logistics automation solutions. Developed by its team of engineers, the new line of pallet trucks, stackers, tow tractors, forklifts and very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks is part of the group’s growing focus on delivering customer solutions through robotics and autonomous solutions.

The product family offers a range of adaptable, scalable autonomous material handling equipment for the warehouse, airport, seaport and manufacturing industries. With advanced pallet detection and recognition capability, the family can pick and place cargo and is easily integrated into production, logistics and warehouse environments.

Each machine incorporates LIDAR Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (LIDAR SLAM) for dynamic path planning, localized navigation and obstacle detection and avoidance. The autonomous vehicle accurately picks up and places the pallet required, said the company, and will interface with cargo lifts and doors and navigate its way around the facility avoiding obstacles.

To further its system software and hardware capabilities, ST Engineering said it will sign several agreements with partners to augment its range of solutions. One of these agreements is with BYD to integrate ST Engineering’s autonomous technology onto BYD’s platforms. This technical collaboration will allow both companies to create a robust and integrated autonomous material handling platform, said the company.

The company has also signed a licensing agreement with France-based Gaussin Manugistique to manufacture, promote, distribute and market Gaussin’s Performance ultra-fast charge electric automated guided vehicle (AGV) in Singapore.

ST Engineering is a global technology, defense and engineering group specializing in the aerospace, electronics, land systems and marine sectors that is headquartered in Singapore.
