Tevva FCEV completes range test

UK-based electrified truck manufacturer Tevva has completed a range test of its hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV).
The 7.5-tonne FCEV truck covered a total of 620 miles on a return journey between the OEM’s London HQ and Berwick-on-Tweed, the northernmost town in England.
Conditions on the run were less than ideal. Temperatures averaged 0ᵒC and at one point reached -10ᵒC.
According to the company, the truck achieved a run of 350 miles (563 km) on the return leg without requiring a refuelling stop.
Lead engineer, Charlie Cordell, said: “We were so please the truck covered so many miles on the return leg without the need to stop.
“The freezing conditions were extremely challenging, but helpful too, in allowing us to gather important data about vehicle performance.”
Refuelling stops for additional hydrogen were made in the Midlands and at the Element 2 filling location in Teesside, Middlesborough.
Element 2 is reported to be involved in development of a national network of hydrogen refuelling sites.
The truck on the test featured an H2 fuel cell stack which was used to charge Tevva li-ion phosphate battery packs, which do not use any cobalt. Tevva already produces a 7.5-tonne truck with a pure battery-electric powertrain.
