United to debut tool-tracking utility trucks

Premium Content

United Rentals will introduce the Truck of the Future, a fleet of utility trucks with a built-in tool tracking system which makes it easy to keep track of trucks, people and tools, at The Utility Expo. The trucks are preloaded with tools that have permanent asset tags and integrated with United Rentals’ cloud-based equipment management solution Total Control to provide visibility into all the tools located on a jobsite.

Also at the Utility Expo, set for Sept. 28-30 in Louisville, KY, United Rentals teams will conduct a series of in-booth educational sessions and equipment demonstrations, plus perform multiple in-ground excavations featuring the company’s Mega Brace hydraulic bracing system.

“Between the two booths, we have so much valuable information to help managers work safely and more efficiently,” said Craig Schmidt, vice president, national accounts at United Rentals.

“From excavations and emergency response, to coordinated outage planning and solving challenges with grid congestion and process enhancements, United Rentals has the utility industry solutions and experience.

At the Utility Expo, companies will learn how we can partner as a single-source rental provider to solve the biggest challenges utilities face and deliver quantifiable results.”

United Rentals will also showcase its Total Control telematics technology, Trech and Confined Space Safety solutions and training, plus provide tips on safe site sanitation, how to access temporary substations and best practices for equipment use in electrified enviornments.
