Vanguard teams up with Bartell Global for electric power

Vanguard is teaming up with Bartell Global to power more electric construction and surface preparation equipment.

The manufacturer is turning to the 48V 1.5kWh1 Commercial Swappable Battery Pack (Si1.5) from Vanguard, which is part of the Briggs & Stratton group, to power three new additions to its most popular lines of equipment. By utilizing a single, interchangeable power source for the B424 Edger Trowel, BC436 Power Trowel and BCF1570 Forward Plate Compactor, the two companies are aiming to deliver an efficient, simplified workflow for the modern contractor.

Bartell Global introduced these battery-powered solutions to offer the same equipment previously available to customers, but now with the added versatility of swappable battery power. The interchangeable design of the Vanguard Si1.5 allows it to be easily swapped between applications on the jobsite, helping to reduce downtime by moving power where it is needed most.

At 48V and 1.5kWh, the battery pack provides enough stored energy for compact applications while remaining portable enough to ensure that machines stay easy to transport and maneuver.

This level of reliability is critical for work in noise-sensitive or enclosed environments, such as residential areas, schools, hospitals and indoor jobsites, where reduced noise and zero-emission operation are essential requirements, added the company.

“Our goal was to bring battery-powered equipment to market in a way that makes sense for real users, and the Vanguard Si1.5 platform makes that possible by supporting contractor applications in a truly practical way,” said Matt Locke, VP of sales – the Americas, Bartell Global. “By adopting this unified, swappable ecosystem, we are simplifying the jobsite experience — reducing the need for multiple chargers and parts while allowing crews to easily swap power across different machine types.

Jobsite versatility

Beyond a simplified workflow, the maintenance-free Si1.5’s fast-charging capability — reaching an 80% charge in approximately 50 minutes  — allows electric equipment to fit naturally into a contractor’s schedule. Operators can recharge during natural breaks, such as lunch or travel time, said the company, to effectively eliminate downtime. 

The company added that the integration provides a practical path for Bartell Global to expand electric options across its portfolio where the technology offers a clear advantage, such as lower noise, reduced maintenance and indoor usability. The partnership with Vanguard is central to this strategy, as the swappable battery pack approach creates a scalable foundation rather than a series of one-off designs. Ultimately, the system allows Bartell Global to effectively expand battery integration across additional compaction, concrete finishing and surface preparation platforms as the industry evolves.
